This picture was taken in late September approaching the summit of North Brace Mountain in the southern Taconics. That's a paraglider hanging motionless in the upper right corner, and I sure envied them gliding over the rocks and scrub that I had to hump through to reach their vantage point.
Today the air is thick and steaming and the wind barely stirs the grass. We may get a thunderstorm this evening, as we tend to do in late afternoon on days like these. I wish I had a sea breeze, but lacking that I wish I could parasail up there in the thermals, twisting in the wind with heaven above and the world at my feet, to hang like lightning in the air.
