Alert reader and Facebook friend Bill Trond has discovered the following disclaimer printed on the third page of a scurrilous collection of historical documents being sold to the masses by none other than that behemoth, Amazon.com:
"This book is a product of its time and does not reflect the same values as it would if it were written today. Parents might wish to discuss with their children how views on race, gender, sexuality, ethnicity and interpersonal relations since this book was written before allowing them to read this classic work."
Damn straight. Imagine if my children were to be exposed to the actual words contained in the United States Constitution, The Declaration of Independence and the Articles of Confederation! Before I knew it, they would start believing all that other hogwash about life, liberty and the pursuit of happiness, that there is such a thing as 3/5 of a person, and that a charge of treason requires at least two witnesses to prove (notwithstanding that it helped their ancestor Jonathan Dayton beat the rap).
Man, I hope they have this same disclaimer on the Starr Report.

I am very pleased that your gang is as concerned about the need for a disclaimer on the Starr Report as I am.
