I may not make it through the primaries in the 2007 Weblog awards, though finalists in the "Best of the Rest" category in which Walking the Berkshires is a contender have not yet been announced. Nonetheless I am delighted that three of the blogs that I nominated have been chosen as finalists in their respective categories: Dan Trabue's A Payne Hollow Visit as one of the top ten Religious Blogs, Connecticut Local Politics in the Political Blogs category; and the Vlog This Day in Alternate History as a finalist in the Video Blog competition. Congratulations to all of these excellent blogs and the fine folks who produce them!
Since I am likely to remain a king maker rather than king, I am embracing my newfound ability to pick winners and influence popular opinion to further endorse a slate of finalists which deserve all the support they can get in the frenzy of voting which is soon to take place. In addition to the three blogs named above, Walking the Berkshires is throwing its support behind the candidacy of the following two blogs in the 2007 Weblog Awards:
Best Science Blog: A tough one as two of my favorite bloggers are finalists. I give the edge to Jennifer Foreman Orth's Invasive Species Weblog.
Best Celebrity Blog: I am delighted to see Curt Shilling's 38 Pitches in there and will remain a regular reader even if the Sox don't sign him for a final year.
Voting should begin late this evening and you can vote one in each category every 24 hours. Early and often; it's the American way.

Hey Tim! Thanks for the edge, I think I'm going to have to give to Pharyngula though :-).
